By the year 2012 Scan has been downloaded over 25 million times and 27 million regular monthly scans. They raised $8M in two years and upgraded its features that respond to the consumer requests. Gee became CEO, Ouimet COO, and Turley CTO. In 2011 Gee, Ouimet and Turley formed the Scan Inc. ![]() He took six months to develop the user-friendly Scanning app with the help of his friends Ben Turley and Kirk Ouimet. When he was designing the app, he was a student at Brigham Young University. So Garrett considered designing one himself and made the Mobile QR & Barcode Scanner App, “Scan.” After a massive success of the app, he along his classmate formed the company, Scan Inc. He later for the replacement of the app tried to find another one but didn’t able to get one. He entered the technology life unexpectedly after when he downloaded an app which scanned and read UPC barcodes used to purchase retail products. Garrett Gee received a smartphone in 2009. Garret Gee completed his schooling from Utah Highland and went to Brigham Young University, but didn’t complete study to launch his company Scan Inc. Gee has one brother and four sisters and one stepmother. The family decided to travel the world and sold their almost everything and later sold the Scan App to the Snapchat for the value of $54M. Jessica was from Denver who was also serving as LDS mission in Vladivostok when they met.Ĭurrently, Gee has three children, namely Dorothy, Manilla, and Calihan. He served a two-year mission in Vladivostok, Russia. While Garrett brushed it off, Jessica initially felt the sting.He worked as an LDS in Russia where he met his better half/life partner Jessica. Some have called the couple spoiled, questioned their motives and even criticized their parenting. Their philanthropic journey has not been without its detractors. But recently, they went public with a promise to donate LASIK surgery through Hoopes Vision, a surgical vision correction center based out of Salt Lake City, to five deserving people. “It’s something really good that we can do,” said Garrett. “We are always looking at ways we can help others, rather than focusing on ourselves,” said Jessica Gee, 29. ![]()
